Fitness Tips for When You Can’t Find Time to Exercise

When you can barely find time to sleep and you work through your lunch break every day, finding time to exercise really does seem impossible. And when you can’t magically find 30 extra minutes or an hour to squeeze out of a day that’s already packed with tasks to complete, you feel guilty for not exercising. But there are ways to add mini workouts into your day. Even when every minute is booked, you can make a little time here and there for fitness.

Plan it Out

You probably have a to-do list to complete every day, appointments marked on the calendar and reminders set on your phone. Try scheduling fitness the way you schedule everything else. Find little gaps in your schedule where you can. And where you can’t, find places where you can turn something you need to do or have to do into exercises.

Make it an Exercise

Spending time with the family Saturday? Spend time with them being active. Go hiking, jogging, biking, play basketball or go workout together at a family-friendly gym. There are also warehouses around many cities that have family dodgeball, trampolines, and foam pits to jump in. Have a business meeting? Mix things up. Instead of lunch at a sit down restaurant, ask your business date if they’d like to take a brisk walk to a healthy café for lunch instead of taking a car. This way you will end up back at work on time and you will have gotten some exercise in. Shopping on Sunday? Power-walk around the mall or department store a couple times first, and get some exercise out of it. Maybe this walk will show you some great gift ideas for your family and friends for the Holidays! Look for ways to fit fitness in, and you’ll find them.

Start Small

When all else fails, just start small. Begin with a 5-minute jog or walk, or spend 5 minutes doing cardio in your bedroom in the morning when you wake up or before you brush your teeth at night. After a week of daily 5-minute workouts, try extending it to 10 minutes. Keep going this way until you’re working out for at least 30 minutes a day. By then, it will be a habit and you will be used to carving out regular time to maintain your fitness. Health is wealth!
