Quick, Low-Calorie Muffin Recipes That Are Easy to Make

Muffins are definitely a comfort food, but they can add a little too much comfort to your waistline. While muffins may seem healthy because of the portion size and that many are made with berries and oatmeal, they can still be crammed with sugar, butter and whole milk — all packed with calories. Try some actually low-calorie muffin recipes instead, and you can comfort yourself by knowing you aren’t breaking your diet when you eat them.

Banana Muffins

Combine one and a half cups of flour with three large bananas, two egg whites and a dash of cinnamon and vanilla. Instead of butter, add a quarter cup of Greek yogurt and three tablespoons of skim milk. Make a crumb topping with two tablespoons of skim milk, a quarter cup of brown sugar, two tablespoons of flour and a dash of cinnamon. Cook the muffins at 350 degrees for 25 minutes and sprinkle on your topping. Each muffin is about 150 calories.

Fruit Muffins

Stir together three-fourths cup of flour, one-third cup of sugar and a half a cup of oat flour to build your base for fruit muffins. Add a quarter cup of brown sugar, two teaspoons of baking powder, two eggs and three-fourths a cup of skim milk. Add one-two cups of berries of your choice. After you cook these muffins at 350 for 25 minutes, you can enjoy one for about 150 calories.

Low-Calorie Muffins

It’s not always easy to find great tasting muffins that are less than 200 calories each. Use these low-calorie recipes to create muffins that are perfect for a snack or as part of a healthy meal. No matter how hardcore your diet might be, you can still eat what you want to eat — you just have to bake it yourself most of the time!
