How to Style a Perfect Topknot

Casual glamor is the must-have look for trendsetters this year, and it all starts with the right hairdo. Try doing your ‘do in a classic topknot that says you’re totally casual and carefree — while, of course, making sure that you look fabulous.

Casual Elegance

The topknot looks simple, but there is a certain technique to styling one. You can also make this simple look more fun by adding braids and accessories.

Start by spritzing your hair with hairspray, texturizing spray or whatever holding power you like to use. Nelly Ecological hairspray is an environmentally-friendly hairspray that’s designed for extra strong hold.

Brush or comb your hair after you have applied the product. Next, capture all of your hair and pull it up into a ponytail right at the crown of your head. Place a hairband around it to hold the ponytail in place.

Grab the end of the ponytail, being sure to capture all stray hairs, and start winding your hair around the base of the ponytail. Pin the ends of your ponytail to your head to secure the topknot. Give it all a final spray, and you’re ready to go.

Add a Braid Around Your Topknot

This style also helps hide fly-aways that sometimes are seen in a topknot style.

The topknot is deceptively simple, great-looking, and a perfect choice with any occasion.
