Did you get a gift card for Christmas this year? According to Wallet Hub, gift cards made it to #1 on the list of most desired gifts this season. If you got a card from a store that you really like, that’s great. On the other hand, if you got a card from a store you’ve never heard of or aren’t fond of, all hope isn’t lost. There are a few options available to you.

Trade Them in Online
Consider trading your gift cards in online. There are gift card exchange websites out there that you can use to trade your card in for cash. One in particular is called, While you may not get 100% of the value from these sites, you can expect anywhere from 50% to 90% of value back. The best cards to sell are the ones for groceries, gas and large retail stores.

Maybe you don’t want to just take what you can get. Maybe you want to set a price. If so, is an excellent option for you. You simply list the gift card online and let people know what you want to sell the card for. The site will post it and once a sale is made, they take 12%.

Obviously if you want the most money back, waiting until after the holidays is not the best time. That’s because these gift exchange websites offer lower values during this time. A great time to sell gift cards is a month or so after Christmas – around February or March.
