Spring Fruits & Veggies You’ll Want to Stock Up On

As the warmer months approach, there are so many things to be excited and thankful for, but one thing that automatically comes to mind is seasonal fruits and veggies. Though offered year-round, these babies are the tastiest in spring!

Cherries

Cherries are delicious, but they’re at their prime with the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness in spring. The best part is that there are so many variations! The ruby red ones are dark and sweet; the light pink ones are more tart. Anything with an in-between color will have an “in-between” taste.

Apricots

Apricots can be addicting, especially when the juices pour out of the fruit the second you dig your teeth in. Apricots go well with just about any dish, both sweet and savory. You can find them anytime throughout the year, but they are ripest in spring.

Peas

Of course, peas are available frozen year-round, but they’re fresh off the stem in the spring – and totally worth the wait. Add them to any dish as a side, put them in a sauce or stew, or use them as your staple stir-fry vegetable. The flavor blends well with almost any meat; just see for yourself!

Avocados

Are you a guacamole fan? Do you enjoy avocado toast? Or do you just eat avocado with a spoon and spices? Whatever the case, you’ll want to stock up on avocados this spring. To triple-check that your avocado is ready to eat, just lightly squeeze it in your hand. The fruit should give a little and be easy to cup open.

Asparagus

Did you know that asparagus is one of the first veggies that spring produces? It’s also fairly inexpensive at the beginning of the season because markets have so much in stock. And if we haven’t already won you over, we will with this last fact: It’s the most flavorful in the spring months.

Artichokes

If you’ve never had an artichoke heart, you are missing out on one of the best vegetables your taste buds can get their “hands” on. In spring, this tasty veggie comes alive in the blink of an eye. It doesn’t have a long seasonal life, so grab it while you can and make all the artichoke dip your heart desires!
