Summer Calls for Sunscreen, And These Are Our Favorites to Try for Every Skin Type

One of the most important beauty tips in existence is to wear sunscreen every single day. It should be the first layer you put on your face before you begin your makeup routine. Apply it, pat it dry, wait a few minutes, and move on with your regular makeup routine. Sunscreen, above 15 SPF, (but preferably 30+), helps work against sunburn and sun damage, but beyond that, it plays a major role in preventing aging to the face. FYI, a bottle of sunscreen is exponentially less expensive than Botox and chemical peels, so the sooner you start applying sunscreen, the later you can start with the heavy-duty, anti-aging tactics. And, since everyone’s skin behaves differently, I’ve rounded up a selection of great sunscreens based on different skin types so you can find your best match. Don’t forget to apply to your lips!

For Dry Skin

If you’re like me, your skin constantly needs moisture. I can never use a product that even hints that it may dry out the skin in the fear my entire face will flake off and float away. So, I turn to a brand that’s known for being ultra-moisturizing: CeraVe. CeraVe offers a hydrating sunscreen that also functions as a face tint so you can kill two birds with one sunscreen. For Oily Skin

On the flip side, if you suffer from an oilier complexion and need a sunscreen to combat that, I recommend a sunscreen from COOLA. Their full spectrum sunscreen promises to absorb quickly, leave you with a smooth finish, and is meant to be used under makeup. The formula is oil free, so you don’t have to worry about any greasy residue. Plus, I love COOLA because they are vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, paraben-free, and reef-free, so you can feel confident wearing their products. For Combination Skin

Some days you’re oily, some days you’re dry, some days you’re a little bit of both. If this sounds like your skin, you need a sunscreen that can conquer every type of skin personality. For a do-it-all sunscreen, I recommend Unseen Sunscreen from Supergoop! This brand is a leading name in the sunscreen world and is definitely worth trying if you’re in the market for a new sunscreen. Their formula is oil free and goes on smoothly to leave you with a super clean finish. It also leaves the face hydrated and prepped for your everyday makeup. Honorable Mention

It wouldn’t be a beauty roundup from me without something from Glossier. While their Invisible Shield isn’t necessarily marketed towards any specific skin type, their formula goes on clear, absorbs insanely fast, and since it’s Glossier, is made to be easily layered under your makeup for all day wear.
