Fall 2022 Hair Trends

Just like in fashion and makeup, there are hair trends for each season. And in the wake of curtain bangs and the unexpected resurgence of the “Rachel,” we already know this fall will be full of styles to fall in love with. Here are some of our favorites.

’80s Hair

Big hair, don’t care! Though some ’80s hairstyles (we’re looking at you, teased bangs) may not be making a comeback anytime soon, other, more glamorous styles like the ’80s blowout are coming back strong. So channel your inner Cindy Crawford to re-create the bombshell look: All you need is a good set of rollers (velcro or heated will give the same results). For extra-lasting volume, set your hair with rollers after drying it with a round heated brush. Let it dry and cool entirely, then hit it with a healthy misting of a humidity-resistant hairspray.

Slick and Sleek

The Fall 2022 runways were saturated with slick hair, and we may have an inkling as to why that may be! With oversized silhouettes and bulky outerwear being the garments of choice for this season, keeping hair neat and tidy offers a refreshing contrast to your ensemble without weighing you down. You can opt for the wet, gelled look or keep things super-tight with a seriously sleek ponytail or low bun. While undoubtedly on-trend, we wouldn’t recommend rocking this look every day: Tight ponies and buns are fairly high-tension and can cause breakage over time.

Glass Hair

This autumn, put down the toner and reach for a hair mask instead. Just like glass skin, glass hair means your hair is so healthy and nourished that it almost has a reflective quality to it. This look isn’t so much of a trend as it is a lifestyle change, so it’ll take a bit of commitment to achieve the desired results: Get regular trims to snip off any damage, use a weekly deep-conditioning mask to keep hair soft, and do a haircare purge to ensure you’re not using anything with alcohol, parabens, sulfates, or other unsavory ingredients and additives. The fall is the perfect chance to start taking your hair seriously, as the colder weather can dry out your hair more than usual. Trust us when we say your locks will be thankful for all the extra TLC!
