Taking care of your skin isn’t something to think about every once in a while. It’s something you need to do daily. Practice skin maintenance regularly to keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful all the time.
Exfoliate
Make exfoliating a habit. You should be lightly exfoliating your skin everywhere at least once a week, every week. There are lots of options for exfoliating. Try body scrubs, loofahs and scrub brushes to find the method you like best, and start doing it regularly. Pick a certain day of the week, and make it part of your routine. Regular exfoliating removes dead skin cells and makes skin feel smoother and softer. Your skin will also look more radiant, healthy and fresh. One of Rethink Beautiful’s favorite body scrubs is anything with coffee in it; it immediately makes your skin feel tighter and smoother.
Moisturize
Moisturize your skin every single day. Use lotion on your body at least once a day, and on your face twice a day (morning and night). Your skin needs moisture to stay soft and healthy. If your face is already on the oily side, it’s better to use an oil free moisturizer so you don’t risk a break out. Good moisturizing will keep your skin looking younger for a lot longer. Regularly applying lotion helps to reduce the appearance of lines. You should also moisturize your skin from the inside out by drinking lots of water every day. One of Rethink Beautiful’s favorite lotions for body and face during the winter is Pond’s Cold Cream! They have different types for different skin types. Anything with Vitamin C or E is also great for your skin.
Protect
Apply sunscreen daily. Yes, every day. It’s definitely a drag and it can be tedious until you get used to doing it. We recommend doing it when you put on your morning moisturizer. Once it becomes a regular daily task, you won’t even think twice about it, and you’ll be doing a world of good for your skin. The sun can be extremely damaging, and it creates signs of aging. Protect your skin from sunlight every day, and you’ll end up with younger-looking skin for years to come.
Maintenance
It takes a little extra time and you will need some extra products, but skin maintenance is necessary. Integrate it into your daily routines. Getting into the habit of doing these things will likely get you into even better habits of other health maintenance. This will keep your skin feeling soft, looking young and staying healthy…and who doesn’t want all of that?
