4 Explanations You Don’t Owe Anyone

We live in a high pressure society where it seems nearly every little choice and action we take is judged. But the choices we make are our own, meaning we should be able to make them without fear of scrutiny or what others may think. What ends up happening however, is that once we make a choice, we feel like we have to justify it.

Common choices include:

Political or religious beliefs: Nothing can start a fight faster than a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist, Democrat, or Republican conversation. The topic is sensitive for  most people. But, what you believe is what you believe, and you don’t have to hide behind it. It’s okay to have a conversation about it without going into great detail as to why you feel the way you do.

Relationship status: If you’re single and have been so for a while, most people start to ask, “what’s wrong?” Although you may feel tempted, you don’t need to go into great detail as to why you’re still single. You don’t need to feel ashamed about it either.

Not apologizing: If you’re in a situation where you’re not sorry and feel no need to apologize, then there’s no need to explain why.

For your appearance: Do you like a certain way of fashion? Do you like a certain hair color, or want a certain piercing? Then go for it!  There’s no need to explain why you look the way you do.

Moral of the story…Be confident in your choices. You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.
