Oh, Claire Danes. You may know her for her Emmy-winning role as CIA officer Carrie Mathison on HBO’s Homeland. However, many of us still think of her as a ’90s teen icon who had her breakout role in the ABC series My So-Called Life and starred in Romeo + Juliet alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. One thing most of us can agree on: This girl was fashion royalty in the 1990s. Let’s look at some of our favorite Claire Danes outfits from the ’90s and how you can re-create these styles today.

Excuse us while we squeal with excitement at how adorable this outfit is. It’s also evidence that fashion trends really do circle back around. To create this outfit for today’s trends, we love the idea of pairing a corduroy button-down miniskirt with this leopard-print Jonathan Simkhai Standard Turtleneck Mesh Bodysuit ($195, shop here). Top off the outfit with an oversized denim jacket and a pair of Dr. Martens. Basically, it’s the perfect fall outfit. Thank you very much, Miss Danes.

Here’s a fun fact: While filming Romeo + Juliet, DiCaprio said he felt Danes was uptight, while Danes felt DiCaprio was immature. Nevertheless, they looked great tackling the red carpet together. To get this look, try pairing a bold-printed maxi skirt like this That’s A Wrap Printed Maxi Skirt from Free People ($98, shop here) with an oversized sweater. Add some dainty gold jewelry and pointed-toe flats or chunky clogs – another perfect ensemble courtesy of Claire Danes.

How precious is Claire Danes in this photo? We love a retro ringer tee – and bonus points if you can find a real one at your local thrift store. If not, try this Red Ringer Tee from Charlie Hustler ($24, shop here). To make this look a little more modern, pair the tee with a button-down denim miniskirt and Docs with socks that peek over the top. We love retro Keds with this look, too.

Some things (i.e., the little black dress) never go out of style! To get the look, we love the idea of an LBD in velvet, like this ASOS White Velvet Smock Dress with Pockets ($103, shop here), paired with white platform Chucks or printed booties.
I like the little black dress.
