Summer Cocktails as Refreshing as They Are Amazing

There’s something so swoon-worthy about the idea of sitting poolside sipping a fruity drink. And when you find a cocktail that’s as delicious as it is refreshing, there simply aren’t words to describe the experience. So, cheers to an undeniably perfect summer with one of these classic cocktails in hand.

Gin and Tonic

This classic cocktail is undoubtedly refreshing, and it’s as simple as combining four key ingredients; tonic, gin, lime, and mint. The strength of this drink is up to you, but we recommend anywhere from one and three shots of gin. To garnish this drink and add some extra flavor, toss in a few fresh mint leaves and a lime wedge.

Rum Runner

Standard rum runners include a shot of white rum, a shot of dark rum, a shot of a liquor of your choice, two shots of your favorite juice, and a splash of grenadine.

The best part about this fruity cocktail is that it’s entirely dependent upon your taste preferences. Get creative and play around with flavors until you uncover your favorite recipe!

Mojito

Mojitos can be challenging to perfect, but once you do, you will impress your guests with your cocktail-making skills!

When mixing a mojito, the most important step is to muddle a few leaves of mint and about a teaspoon of refined sugar in with the lime juice. From here, the rest of the recipe is simple. Combine your mixture with a shot and a half of rum, then top off with seltzer.

Margarita

Sometimes your liquor arsenal is running low, and all you want is to combine a few simple ingredients into a killer drink. If you find yourself in this situation, this spin on a classic margarita is perfect.

Pour two shots of tequila into a shaker, add one shot of orange liqueur and fresh lime juice. After mixing, strain into a glass, and you’re all set! To ensure this drink is refreshing and not as dehydrating, leave out the salt rim.

White Wine Sangria

Red wine is to winter as white wine is to summer, so traditional sangria doesn’t seem to cut it when the weather gets a bit warmer. For this reason, white wine sangria is a clear winner when the sun is out.

As a starting point, pour a full bottle of your favorite white wine into a pitcher, followed by a clear carbonated drink of choice (i.e., ginger ale). From here, experiment with citrus fruits you enjoy. Feel free to also experiment with other flavored wines, champagnes, or juices!

Mint Julep

If it’s good enough for the Kentucky Derby, it’s good enough for us! Mint juleps are bourbon-based cocktails that are perfect for those with more refined palates.

To make this cocktail, muddle about four leaves of mint, one teaspoon of sugar, and two teaspoons of water. Add ice and your desired amount of bourbon, and voila!

There’s a fruity drink here to fit everyone’s tastes, whether you’re drawn to tequila, long for a splash of rum, or simply can’t foresee a summer without wine. Your taste buds will be equally thrilled and refreshed!
