Working from home is the new norm for many, which sometimes means juggling Zoom meetings, phone calls, and work deadlines while also looking after the kids. Here are a few helpful tips for keeping your kids entertained while you work!
Crafting
Crafting can be messy, and some projects will require your undivided attention, but others may offer you a slight reprieve. Simply provide your kids with a risk-free area to craft. Dress-Up
Young children love playing dress-up! Every time your kid prepares their next outfit, you can work without interruption. Then you simply need to rate their costumes as they show them off.
Homework Time
Just because you have to work doesn’t mean you can’t involve your children. So pull out their homework and ask them to work with you. This gives older children time to get their homework done while your attention is elsewhere. If they don’t have their own homework, you can pretend to “assign” them something from your job – like highlighting papers or “editing” an old document. They’ll feel important to be included!
Fort & Movie
Building a fort is always an exciting activity. Plus, your kids can use it to play games in or watch movies once it’s built. Equip the fort with pillows, blankets, snacks, and anything else they could need.
Reading Club
Clear a shelf in your kitchen or living room for the ultimate prizes – movie tickets, extra park time on the weekends, a special trip to get ice cream…the options are endless. Attach a “ticket” to each item with the number of pages they must read to redeem. Make sure they know you will ask them what the book is about after!
