How to Improve Your Skincare Routine

It is just as easy to stick to the same skincare routine you’ve had for years as it is to try the latest products and trends. But both of these options come with problems since they may not address what your skin needs right now. Here, we will discuss how to improve your skincare routine.

The Bare Face Method

To find out what your skin needs, you have to first determine your skin type. Try the “bare face method” and wait 30 minutes after thoroughly washing your face to inspect what state your skin is in. The trick is not to apply any product so you can examine your skin type. If your face feels tight or flakey, you probably have dry skin. If your skin has a sheen or excess shine, you probably have oily skin.

Where to Go From There?

The foundation for a great daily skincare routine is really no more than three steps: cleanse, moisturize, apply sunscreen. After determining your skin type, there are several other factors to consider, such as whether your skin is sensitive or acne-prone. If your skin is dry, you’ll likely want to add a thicker moisturizer to your routine. If your skin is oily, you should consider products that help reduce sebum production. Once a week, it’s smart to gently exfoliate your skin and apply a face mask for a deeper treatment.
