If you’re one of 300,000 people who has been captivated by the online word game Wordle (which was recently purchased by The New York Times for a pretty penny), you might crave more than one puzzle per day! When you’ve already guessed the Wordle and want more, these word games might fill the void. (Links are in the titles!)
Another browser-based game, Word Master gives you six tries to guess the right word – and, like Wordle, the colors behind each letter will indicate how close you’re getting to the right answer. Basically, Word Master and Wordle are the same game, but Word Master lets you play more than once per day.
Hello Wordl is another game that functions just like Wordle, but the biggest difference is that you can play multiple puzzles each day – and change the number of letters from four to 11.
If playing internet word games isn’t nerdy enough for you, we have good news: Lordle of the Rings is another word game built around guessing five-letter words – except that they are all Lord of the Rings related. Time to break out that Elvish!
Absurdle takes your favorite game and makes it… frustrating. The game loves to swap the word while you’re still guessing, and it definitely does not want to give you hints about whether you’re on the right track. This game is sure to upset you (in the best way). Good thing guesses and playtime are unlimited!
Think Wordle meets Tetris, and you’ll end up with something along the lines of SpellTower, where you have to find words in the tiles to clear them and keep them from reaching the top. SpellTower will reward you for finding big words and also comes with bragging rights! Like Wordle, your score is sharable.
Spelling Bee is another game owned by The New York Times, and you can play it for free if you subscribe. Why Spelling “Bee”? Because this game is all about hives. The hive consists of seven letters that you must use to make as many words as possible (you must use the center letter). If you can make a word that uses every letter in the hive, you’ll be crowned queen bee. Unfortunately, Spelling Bee also gives you only one puzzle per day, though you get unlimited guesses to solve it!
Letterpress will leave you pressed. To win, you have to unscramble tiles to form words – and do that better than your friends or random opponents. You can grab this app in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
