If you suffer from acne, you may choose to handle it in one of two ways: Either you let your skin breathe, or you cover it with makeup. If you typically take the latter route, we have one word for you…green! Now, we don’t mean green as in using eco-friendly products (though we are all for that too!). We mean to use a green concealer, a technique also known as color correcting. Read on to learn more about how green concealer can help you hide your acne.
What Is Color Correcting?
You may have learned this in art class: When you mix two opposite (complementary) colors on the color wheel, the tones cancel each other out. So, since green is the opposite of red, it helps cover up the redness of any acne spot or blemish. It can also combat red areas due to rosacea and inflammation, as well as neutralize fair or medium skin tones where redness is more pronounced. Another form of color correcting is using orange concealer to combat bluish-colored under-eye circles.
How to Use Green Concealer
Try these three easy steps for applying green concealer:
- Wash your face, then apply your primer and foundation.
- Lightly tap your green concealer on the areas you want to color correct.
- Add a skin-toned concealer on top, then blend to make it look natural.
