Career-wise, you may not lack motivation, but the execution may need some work. Have no fear, because that’s where we come in. Here are seven work hacks to ensure you have the best career year yet.
The Tasks at Hand
Before you begin your workday, write down your top three tasks and focus on them until they’re complete. You’ll feel accomplished and not like your day has spun out of control.
Have a Brain Dump
At the beginning of the week, dump your non-urgent tasks and thoughts onto paper. As you move through the week, check off what you get done and add to the list as necessary. This allows you to get ideas down, forget about them, and revisit them when the time is right.
Silence Your Notifications
Silencing your notifications is a great idea in theory, but it’s easier said than done. Start small by going silent for a few hours and seeing how much work you can do. As you get more comfortable with it, extend the time you are on silent. Utilize the Do Not Disturb by allowing important calls – but avoiding all the other notifications.
Implement the Two-Minute Rule
Inevitably, tasks will pop up during your day, but as they do, evaluate how long they will take. Will the task take less than two minutes? Knock it out. Will it take more than two minutes? Add it to your to-do list and get back to it later.
To Bed, We Said
Plain and simple, ensuring you’re getting adequate sleep every night will help ensure you’re awake and focused throughout the workday.
Copy + Paste
Many jobs are repetitive. For these tasks, we recommend making an outline, template, or cheat sheet to make them even simpler and easier to accomplish.
Treat Yourself!
Treat yourself with a little something during your workday or on your way home. You deserve it!
