At this point, we consider ourselves thrifting pros. Over the years, we’ve scoured the clothing racks, traced the aisles, and led determined searches to score incredible finds. We’ve given thrifting tips in the past, but now, we’re back again to deliver more advice for your next shopping trip.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm

Like you, other people are hoping to find treasures to fill their closets. We recommend starting your thrifting journey when the store opens to beat the crowds.

Dress the Part

In a perfect world, every thrift store would come equipped with dressing rooms to try on your finds. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. It’s best to dress appropriately, so you can easily slip things on and off over your clothes. We recommend dressing in a tank top or t-shirt, bike shorts, and comfortable sandals.

Use Your Resources

Always bring a measuring tape to your thrifting excursion. It can give you an idea of what you’re working with before trying on the item, plus provide a size reference for future trips.

Set a Time Limit

After hours and hours of searching, the aisles of a thrift store resemble an inescapable labyrinth of clothing. It’s easy to get carried away! Set a time limit for your trip, so you don’t waste your day (and budget) away.

Check for deals

Like any other shopping trip, your eyes should be peeled to find any available sales or bargains. How to find them? Follow your local thrift store or Goodwill on social media and subscribe to their email list for news and updates. Additionally, stores often announce deals on their intercom during your trip, so stay alert!

Even we have fallen victim to buying unnecessary items or impulse shopping! Save time, money, and closet space by asking yourself if you are buying something just because it looks cute on the hanger or because you actually see your future self wearing the item for years to come.
