There are endless hacks out there on ways to get rid of puffy under eyes. So we rounded up the most effective methods for a quick fix to look more awake.
Puffy eyes are mainly caused by water retention, stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, and diet changes. It is essential to recognize the causes to get better results quickly!
Potatoes
Potatoes are a great way to treat puffy under eyes because they contain starch, which helps get rid of excess water and reduce inflammation. Just cut two slices of a potato and place them under your eyes. If the potato is previously chilled, it will add a nice cooling effect as well.
Tea Bags
Green tea has antioxidant properties, and the caffeine in tea bags is effective at reducing puffiness. You can either use black tea or green tea bags. Make sure you soak them in hot water for 5 minutes and drain them of excess water.
Milk
Milk has been used to treat dark under eyes and puffiness since Cleopatra and is still useful today. Milk contains amino acids that are beneficial against swelling and have a soothing effect on the skin. Just soak two cotton pads in cold milk and apply them directly to your eyes for 10 minutes.
Cucumber
It’s no surprise that cucumber slices are on this list. They are perhaps the most popular treatment for their antioxidant benefits that help reduce irritation and inflammation on the skin. Place cucumber slices on your eyelids to reduce swelling.
Spoons
If you are in a pinch and don’t have any of these ingredients, pop two spoons into freezer overnight. Applying the cold spoons on your eyelids will also have the same effect on puffy eyes.
Coffee
Since coffee contains caffeine, it’s only natural that it’s an effective remedy against puffiness; it works exceptionally well when you mix it with black pepper grounds. Mix a teaspoon of coffee grounds with coconut oil and some black pepper, leave it on your eyes for a few minutes and rinse it off.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera is rich in antioxidants and vitamins that reduce puffiness and lightens the under eye area. Use fresh aloe vera if you can!
