If we learned anything from Friends, it was how to properly execute certain styles of the ’90s and ’00s – including that boho hippie vibe à la Phoebe Buffay. And, lucky for us, it never went out of style! Today, we’re talking about some of Phoebe’s most iconic outfits – and the style tips we learned from her along the way.
There Is Never a Bad Time to Wear a Maxi Skirt or Dress

Phoebe notoriously wore maxi skirts and dresses, which means they are engrained in our brains as the ultimate boho necessity. They can be dressed up or down, worn across seasons, and paired with just about any shoe you can imagine! And for all of you thrift queens, you already know you can find affordable maxis at your local thrift store – and some of them may actually be from the ’90s!
Leggings and Graphic Tees Have Always Been Iconic

Whether you’re heading to the gym, out for a run, or playing a casual football game with friends, you can always count on leggings and a graphic tee. And, apparently, that has always been the case! The milk braids and yellow turtleneck give the entire ’fit that carefree Phoebe touch!
Accessories Really Tie an Outfit Together

We don’t know about you, but when we think of classic Buffay style, we think of peace sign necklaces, beaded bracelets, statement earrings, stacked rings, and more! Her jewelry brought every look together, and we’ve kept that in mind over the years. We wouldn’t dream of channeling our inner Phoebe without a few baubles.
If It Buttons Down the Front, Sign Us Up

Who knew something so simple – buttons all the way down the front of a dress – could make such a statement? It doesn’t matter if it’s a maxi, mini, or midi dress; if it buttons all the way down, we need it. These pieces are more versatile than you think: You can wear them over a short- or long-sleeved T-shirt or under a graphic tee or sweater.
Sweaters Are Always Necessary

We sometimes base our entire sweater-buying experience on whether Phoebe would have worn it. And if anyone mutters, “It’s giving me Phoebe Buffay vibes,” then consider that sweater sold.
