If you never have to give summer humidity a thought, consider yourself very lucky! Meanwhile, the rest of us feel like we are trapped in a sauna with smudged makeup, unmanageable hair, and drenched clothes losing all shape. Here are some of our best tips for dressing for the dreaded humidity.
Think About Fabric
When it’s steamy and sticky outside, the last thing you want is a fabric that will stick to your body. Linen and cotton are two of our favorite materials because they sit lightly on your body, allow air flow, and don’t drag you down.

Avoid Body-Hugging Pieces
Now is not the time for body-con ensembles! Instead, opt for shapes designed to fall away from your body. Think: flowy skirts, oversized tees, and rompers. Luckily, loose-fitting pieces are currently in style!
When In Doubt, Wear a Dress
You can never go wrong with baggy dresses (but make it fashion). This can be a casual T-shirt dress or a fancier sundress, depending on the occasion.

Steer Clear of Light Gray
Avoid colors that will show sweat! You won’t find us in gray or chambray on a humid day, but we will be sporting a lot of crisp white tees.
Keep Accessories Light
On humid days, the last thing you want are accessories that feel like they’re weighing you down, so we recommend keeping things light with a pair of statement stud earrings. Sunglasses or a hat will not only add interest to your outfit, but they’ll serve a purpose. And, of course, shoes and handbags always make a statement.

Choose Footwear Wisely
Remember: Heat escapes from head and feet. So while we love our Dr. Martens, we are okay with putting them in the back of our closet for a few months while we wear our chicest sandals.
Shorts for Sure
It’s a no-brainer, but shorts get us through these humid days. Jeans or any long pants just feel uncomfortable!
