Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark holiday we’ve been celebrating since childhood. But as we got older, it became this high-pressure romantic holiday. But what about celebrating female friendships? This is where Galentine’s Day comes in. If you watched Parks and Recreation, you might remember the 2010 Galentine’s Day episode where they introduce February 13 as an unofficial holiday to honor friends who always have your back. While we should appreciate our friends year-round, this day is a great excuse to gather your gals and celebrate with each other. Here are some ideas.
Brunch
You can never go wrong with brunch, which is perfect for a handful of friends to gather and celebrate with mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, and delicious food. If you’re on a budget, look for somewhere that offers unlimited drink specials!
Spa Day
There is nothing like self-care at a hotel spa or day spa. Afterward, you can have a nice dinner or order room service. Alternatively, you can host a spa day or night at home where you can unwind with face masks, aromatherapy, and relaxing music.
Host a Potluck
Every year, your friends can take turns hosting a Galentine’s Day potluck. Whoever is hosting can take care of the decor, floral arrangements, and DIY picture backdrops. Put your friends in charge of bringing a dish, dessert, or beverage.
Paint and Sip
Another fun way to spend Galentine’s Day is by booking a class at a paint-and-sip location near you. A painting class is great for larger groups because you don’t have to worry about not having enough space or splitting the bill (you each pay for yourself and your own drinks). Not only do you get to spend quality time together, but you get to have fun creating art with your friends.
