Most of us probably have at least one big goal we want to achieve in the coming weeks, months, or years. But we also know that making goals, sticking to them, and achieving them are all very different. The good news? Following through with your goals doesn’t have to be overwhelming – and we have the tips to prove it.
Map It Out
Take the time to figure out exactly what you want to accomplish, then determine the steps you need to take to get there – and an achievable time frame. Write everything down in a journal, a dream board, or a Post-It timeline to make it feel “real” and stay inspired.
Visualize the End Game
Picture yourself achieving your goal and how you’ll feel afterward. This may sound silly, but depending on your goal, the results could be life-changing.
Break It Down
Big goals can be intimidating, so create small tasks that are easy to accomplish. For instance, if you aim to be fluent in a certain language, set specific milestones along the way. Give each milestone a deadline, and don’t forget to celebrate when you achieve them.
Look Back When You Need To
If you ever feel discouraged about achieving your goal, take a minute to remind yourself how far you’ve come. And keep in mind that it’s normal not to feel inspired on some days.
Give Yourself Time
Set aside regular time in your busy schedule to complete milestones. This will help you create consistency and master the art of prioritizing; plus, it’s a friendly reminder that you’re working toward something bigger.
Keep the Motivation Coming
Unfortunately, burnout can come out of nowhere. In these moments, it’s helpful to find motivation wherever you can. Some examples include listening to podcasts, reading books, watching documentaries, journaling, etc.
Time to Celebrate
We can’t stress enough how important it is to celebrate all of the small accomplishments. Not only is this the ultimate way to acknowledge just how successful you are (and will continue to be), but celebrating milestones can keep you motivated.
