Khloe Kardashian’s Marriage Philosophy: Refreshing Or Outdated?

“At my core, I don’t believe in divorce.” That’s a statement Khloe Kardashian wrote regarding her Christian faith and beliefs around marriage. She admitted that it was and still is very challenging for her to go through with the divorce from Lamar Odom. Yet, she feels this is what she had to do.

This isn’t uncommon. Marriages end all the time between people who don’t “believe” in divorce, yet they do it anyway. Whether it’s for their physical sake, financial sake or emotional sake, they get out of the marriage that isn’t working and move on.

Back in the day, people stuck it out. They endured no matter how hard or treacherous the marriage was. And even today, there are those who are still in it until death literally takes one of them.

My question is… is this philosophy outdated? Should a person leave a relationship that they vowed before God and others (who ever was there) to keep? Or, is it refreshing to see someone stick out the relationship no matter what?

Here’s what I think…

I believe it’s both. I think it’s somewhat outdated to stay in a relationship that no longer serves either of you well. And, I believe that it’s refreshing when people decide to roll up their sleeves and sort things out no matter how messy they are.

This quote from Khloe says a ton…

“But I came to a point in my marriage where I had to make the choice to take care of my own mental and emotional well-being in order to protect myself and my happiness.”

What do you think?

If you’re married, have been married, or are thinking about getting married, what are your thoughts? Is it refreshing to stay, or outdated? Share below.
