One of the best things that you can do for your skin this summer is to make sure you are wearing proper sunscreen. While we love a summer glow, your skin needs something that will protect it from the harsh sun. Dermatologists recommend your sunscreen should be above 30 SPF to be the most effective. Even the days that you aren’t purposefully tanning, if you are going to be outside in the sun, you should be wearing SPF. With so many options, it can be overwhelming to pick the best sunscreen. We’ve got you covered — and protected from UV rays.
Tips for buying a new sunscreen:
- Always Buy 30+ SPF
No matter what, sunscreen isn’t going to block the sun from damaging your skin completely, but it’s especially important to not go below 30 SPF. Apply 30 minutes before heading out, and re-apply every two hours, or if you get wet or sweat.
- Look for Broad Spectrum
When buying sunscreen, you want to make sure it has both UA and UV protection. Look on the label to see if it says “broad spectrum” if it does, you’re good to go!
- Pick a Sunscreen You Enjoy Wearing
If you don’t like the sunscreen you buy, then you aren’t going to wear it. Sunscreens come in all different consistencies and textures, so make sure that the one you buy doesn’t leave you feeling icky. From sprays to creams, find one you’ll reach for over and over.
