Motivation comes and goes. One day, you’re working so fast that you clear your plate of all your responsibilities. The next, you can’t muster up a single productive thought. Well, it’s time for a change! No more lack of inspiration. No more brain blocks. We’re going to give you some easy tips for when you need some motivation. Let’s get started!
Create a Reward System
Establish a reward system for both personal and professional tasks. Small to-dos get small rewards; large to-dos will get large rewards. The size of the job and its corresponding reward is really up to you; we just advise you to make the system realistic so you can accomplish more work.
Build Relationships With Colleagues
A great motivational hack is to build relationships with your colleagues. Why? Because having friends at work can increase your motivation. Plus, if you are drowning in work or need a quick pep talk, just head to a nearby workstation to vent. You’ll feel better afterward and get back to the task at hand.
Talk Yourself Up
Be your own cheerleader. Focus on using encouraging, positive words that propel you in the right direction, like “I can,” “I want,” and “I will.” Avoid “should” and “have to” at all costs; those will bring negative thoughts.
Answer the Question, “Why Do I Work?”
Immediate answers may include job promotions and bonuses, but that’s not what we mean. Really think about it: Why do you work? Is it your passion? Does it reflect your values? Does it make you happy? Find your “why” and remind yourself of it whenever you lack motivation.
Start the Day Off Right
A good morning routine means everything to motivation. If you start the day on the right foot, you will be more productive. This could be a walk, a few minutes of meditation, or reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee. Find what helps you start your day off right and stick to it!
