Recently, we’ve been seeing a garment that sort of looks like a flannel but is much more structured – it’s not quite a jacket but not a shirt either. After some research, we discovered there’s a name for this piece: the shacket.
Why do we love shackets so much? They can be worn as basic button-ups or as layering pieces for any time of the year! Here are some of our favorite shackets and ideas for styling them.
The Shacket from Cotton:On ($69.99, shop here)
The gorgeous green, orange, and beige tones make this shacket perfect for fall. Seriously, we’re warm and cozy just looking at it. As for styling, we love the idea of wearing it over a deep neutral mock-turtleneck bodysuit with destructed denim and booties. Add a crossbody, and you’re ready to hit the pumpkin patch in style.
PacSun Homecoming Button-Down Shacket ($49.95, shop here)
Don’t let the light color fool you: This shacket can be worn this fall just as easily as darker tones. We suggest pairing this shacket with a button-down oxford shirt and leggings. Finish off with retro sneakers and a beanie, and you’ve got an effortless yet stylish look.
ASOS Stradivarius Brushed Overshirt Shacket ($50, shop here)
You can’t go wrong with a solid neutral shacket, and we love the idea of wearing this one with a turtleneck, a front-button miniskirt, and Doc Martens. Never hesitate to throw on a pair of tights under your skirt to keep your legs warm.
12th Tribe Nightfall Rust Plaid Shacket ($68, shop here)
This shacket gives us cozy campfire vibes. Consider wearing it with a turtleneck, black jeans, a beanie, and pointed-toe flats. Or, if it’s not too cold where you live, skip the turtleneck and wear the shacket buttoned on its own.
American Eagle Brushed Plaid Shacket ($89.95, shop here)
Lastly, we love offsetting this light-blue shacket with dark colors – perhaps over a band tee tucked into a midi pencil skirt with retro block heels? Stunning, to say the least!
