Like so many of you, we love animals of all kinds – and we applaud any brand that is doing its part to protect them by adopting cruelty-free practices and policies. Here are some of our favorite cruelty-free makeup brands:
Fenty Beauty
Both of Rihanna’s makeup and skincare lines Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin abide by a strict “no animal testing” philosophy. This goes for the brands’ own operations and that of their suppliers. Fenty Skin is also vegan, which is what we call a win-win for the beauty industry.
KVD Beauty
Renowned tattoo artist Kat Von D sold her share in her cosmetics company in 2020, hence the name change to KVD Beauty. Famously known for its tattoo eyeliner, the brand has maintained its cruelty-free status since its inception in 2008, while its products have been 100% vegan since 2016.
CoverGirl
Storied American brand CoverGirl has been around since 1961, but it officially committed to being 100% cruelty-free in 2018. It even earned a gold certification from Leaping Bunny, an organization that performs vigorous investigations to ensure a brand has removed animal testing from its entire supply chain before awarding certification.
Too Faced
Too Faced Cosmetics has been a cruelty-free brand since its founding in 1998. When the company was acquired by Estée Lauder in 2016, fans worried it might ditch its cruelty-free system. But the founders have reassured us that the brand will stick to its roots. Too Faced recently released some vegan-friendly options as well.
Elf Cosmetics
With Elf Cosmetics, not only can you purchase everything from glitter eyeshadow to bold lipstick for under $20, you can rest easy knowing that the company has always been 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Elf Cosmetics also recently donated $15,000 to Angel City Pits, an LA-based nonprofit dedicated to helping pit bulls.
